Belt Out Your Favourite Grease Tracks with “Sing-a-Long-a Grease”

From a press release:

SING-A-LONG-A GREASE at TIFF Bell Lightbox, February 24-26, 2012 40 Years Since the Original Stage Production!
The British producers of Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music and Sing-a-long-a Abba are thrilled to be returning to Toronto with another entry in sing-a-long-a phenomenon, Grease, the highest grossing movie-musical ever. Since the first Sing-a-long-a Sound of Music in 1999, patrons have been saying “Grease is the one that I want!”
The 40th anniversary of the original stage production of Grease is the perfect time to launch a tour of Sing-a-long-a Grease! On February 14, 1972, Grease premiered Off-Broadway before transferring to Broadway later in the year. The original musical gave rise to countless revivals, and the 1978 classic movie Grease, starring John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John, voted the greatest musical ever by Britain’s Channel 4.

Sing-a-long-a Grease is much more than ‘just a film’, it is a show, an event, a fashion extravaganza, a sing-along, and the most fun you can have with your clothes on! “The rules are, there are no rules.” Last year, Sing-a-long-a Grease sold out the Hollywood Bowl, and this year, Sing-a-long-a Grease will tour the UK with one stop across the pond in Toronto.

Every performance will start with Sing-a-long-a host writer/performer Shawn Hitchins who warms up the audience, teaches them to hand jive, shows them how to have the most fun with the contents of their Magic Moments Goody Bag, and cues their cheers and jeers for the film. Sing-a-long-a Greasers will be decked out in their own versions of fifties high school garb worn at Rydell High, including poodle skirts and saddle shoes, black leather biker and powder-pink bomber
jackets, chiffon scarves and skinny ties. Costumes are most definitely encouraged, but singing is mandatory!

Sing-a-long-a Grease is systematic, hydromatic, ultramatic . . . why, it could be Greased Lightnin’!
